YaBoi Eljay, Inspiring The Youth

Lenard Anthony Gant Jr. (born July 17, 1993), stage name YaBoi Eljay (pronounced Yuh-Boy-LJ), or simply Y.B.E, is a hip-hop artist from Oakland, California. Growing up, he was inspired to rap by his cousins that are in a local rap group called “Loced Out” and a Bay Area rap artist who goes by the stage name “Habitt.” After performing at a talent show, summer 2005, at Havenscourt Middle School, YaBoi Eljay decided to pursue a rap career.

He began performing at school talent shows, youth centers, venues, and events around California. As an inspirational speaker and entertainer, his message is to inspire and motivate the youth about the importance of their education and that you can achieve anything you desire with hard work, faith, dedication, and ambition.

Since the onset of 2007, YaBoi Eljay has continued to spread his message. He’s performed at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and a variety of venues; has been featured on several mixtapes including the Coast 2 Coast Mixtape titled “DJ Smoke Presents: The Showcase 100;” he’s toured across northern California selling out his CDs; and has been nominated for the “Best Hip-Hop Artist” Award at the 2014 AI Music Awards.
