Ro Mizzy Gettin His Grind On

Rude Boy Magazine

When mentioning rappers and singers from Washington, DC, Ro Mizzy is a name that is bound to come up. A native of DC, Ro Mizzy was born and resided on the tough streets of the North-East side, a part of the city where drug dealing and crimes are as plentiful as raw youthful talent. Music has played a significant role in Ro’s life since he was a child, naming artists like MC Eiht , 8 Ball & MJG, Snoop Dogg ,Currency and Jay-Z as musical influences. He describes his music as cool out, real music for the smokers with jazzy melodic flows from songs of past artist such as Marvin Gaye and Roy Ayers.  Being no stranger to the struggles, Ro makes his music for real people going through life daily struggles. He first hit the studio at 16 but when a possible professional basketball career did not pan out, Ro looked to the streets like many youth do. He caught a break in 2013 when he joined AMG, a well know local label doing performances around the city including the famous Stadium Strip Club. When that fell short, Mizzy tired of being held up started LotBoy Entertainment along with childhood friend LJ aka Joseph Poole. Ro Mizzy’s latest album entitled Ray Charles in currently on Dat Piff and is generating quite a buzz. Ro hasn’t stopped there as he has a 12 song album dropping this summer entitled “Me, Myself, and I”, which features several bangers and mellowed out tunes that will keep you “ridin’ high”. His advice to aspiring rappers is to be yourself, find your lane, and grind it out.
