Marquis Patience, For No One

De’Juan Marquis Parrish (born August 27, 1990), better known as Marquis Patience, is a singer, songwriter, producer, and engineer from Los Angeles, CA. Though he has been involved with music for many years, Patience first made his debut in 2013 with his own version of “Replay” by Zendaya. Since then, the video has gone on to gain more than 10,000 views and a few fans. Patience first began his start in music when he was 11 years old as a producer and engineer. As his skills progressed, he began recording and producing for other artist. While carrying a strong desire and love for singing, Patience was fearful of his voice. So Patience began to rap instead. It was not until the age of 15 that Patience finally decided to let go and put his voice out there.

In 2008, at the age of 17, Patience won a full-tuition scholarship to the Art Institute of California – Los Angeles for his skills as a sound engineer and producer. Having had success and recognition as producer and engineer, Patience was looking forward to having that same success as a singer and songwriter. In 2011, Patience was offered a single deal from Atlantic Records for his song titled “Zoom.” After many changes to the song and disagreements in the future of the song, the two parted ways. Patience was crushed having come so close to his dream and not being able to grab it. He took a long break from music and returned in 2013 under a new name, Marquis Patience.

He began doing covers on YouTube to both garner fans of his own without the help of any label and to improve his voice as he had never taken voice lessons or sung songs that he himself hadn’t written. His first YouTube video quickly gained results for him, though keeping that momentum became difficult. Today Patience begins a new journey having just released his first original song in 4 years titled “For No One.” From the pain of the Atlantic incident, Patience fathered an amazing song that is both true to his hardships as an artist and an inspiration to everyone to just be who they are.
