Layla Nichole, Dark Days Of Summer

Layla Nichole 500x500

Layla Nichole was born in December, 1988 in Aurora, Colorado. She is the youngest of her father’s eleven children. Born into a musically inclined family, both Layla’s mother and father sang in bands around the west coast and Midwest during the 70s. Layla began writing songs at the young age of six under the name Lil’ Bit.

Layla found herself keeping journals of poems and rhymes to help cope with the breakup of her parents and the move to Washington state. Her early musical and literary influences include Lauryn Hill, Tupac, Nas, Maya Angelou, and Langston Hughes.

Layla has planted her roots in Seattle and currently attends college to pursue a nursing degree. Music still remains Layla’s true calling. She is currently working on the release of her first EP titled “Dark Days of Summer,” set to release in April 2015 with “Paradox (Bring Back the Queens)” receiving major love as the lead single. Appalled by the lack of substance in music today, Layla has made it her mission to shed light onto the real queens of hip-hop and revive the legacy of those who inspired her.
