Jaino, The Enlightenment

Barcelona, Spain born Jaino, Jakob Alberto Höök, March 1, 1984, is a songwriter and rapper coming out of Malmoe, Sweden inheriting both Spanish and Swedish heritage. His style of rapping can be explained as self-conscious, soul searching, ironic, and comical. He realized from an early age what poverty meant as he had already been to India, Thailand, and Morocco at the age of 10. Inspiration to his lyrics comes partly from travelling the world with his rebellious and unafraid mother (where the motivation to “Mr. Politician” was founded) and partly from challenging himself in all kinds of ways, both mentally and physically.

Jaino’s interest in music started to develop in the early 90s when Michael Jackson became his idol. A couple of years later Hip Hop started taking over the stereo in his room with Rakim, Above the Law, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Tupac, and Biggie; it soon became the only thing he would listen to. In the summer of 2000 he started writing his own lyrics with other Hip Hop influenced friends. Although that friendship dissolved as years went by, the interest for Hip Hop and writing never did. Writing quietly for himself about 10 plus years, in 2012 the decision to share his passion and show his closest friends what he had been up to so far was made.

With surprised reactions and very positive feedback, Jaino began working towards reaching out to a wider audience which meant getting into a studio for the first time ever in 2013 where he worked with a local producer. Later that year he came in contact with Sonart Productions where he recorded his first single, “Mr. Politician,” which was released November 4, 2013. The album “The Enlightenment, 2nd coming” is expected sometime around 2016 and will contain everything from smooth tracks as “I´m Gone” to fast paced club bangers such as “Remember me” and everything in between. Keep your eyes on the lookout and do not miss the ride.
