TDG, Twan Da God


Joshua Antwan Newkirk, TDG (Twan Da God), was born October 12, 1987 in Elizabethtown, North Carolina and relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina when he was 6 years old. TDG along with his older brother and sister were raised by his mother who worked as a store manager and step father who served in the military. He became very interested in music at a young age listening to such artists as Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Big Pun, and Nas.

TDG started making beats and rapping in the 6th grade with a group of friends. He attended half his high school years at Western Harnett High School and the rest at Overhills High School where he became known for his music by passing out mixtapes in school. He has performed across the United States including his home state, Arizona, New York, and many others.

TDG writes and produces all his own music and has worked with Hip Hop recording artist and filmwriter Sacario who wrote If I Could Go for Angie Martinez which debut too much acclaim in 2001. The record won a Nielson BDS spin award for accumulating over 190,000 radio spins. TDG has released 3 mixtapes: I Be Twan, Bipolar, and Straight Like That which can be found on Live Mixtapes. TDG has a very unique sound and is determined to leave a mark in the Hip Hop industry.
