Reedy, Other Side of Sanity

Reedy started listening to rap music in 1999 when his 10 year old ears caught a listen of Eminem’s “The Slim Shady LP” prompting him to start writing his own songs. The following year’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” was the catalyst that intrigued Reedy to truly focus his lyrics toward a hip-hop direction. Although Reedy had songs under his belt at such a young age, he did not know what to do with them. It wasn’t until 2005 that he became part of Brick City, a written freestyle competition website where members battle in written verses. After a year on building his cache and his craft, Reedy took the next logical step to record a song and post it on Brick City. The reception was positive and gave Reedy the confidence to continue to pursue music.

Reedy’s first project, “Remember the Name” EP (2006), came about after befriending a sound engineer student in college and the EP strengthened his passion for music. The following year, Reedy released “Cause of Karma” that garnered good reviews and attention furthering Reedy’s hope to take his music to a higher level. After recording several songs, solos and collaborations (2007 – 2008), and a stint in the United States with a woman, he returned to the United Kingdom invigorated to write and pursue music hard. Reedy wrote, recorded, and released his first full length album in 2012 titled “Keep Looking Up” that received glowing reviews from online magazines and online radio stations.

Upon the album’s release Reedy began gigging. He has performed all over Sussex and has been given tremendous responses for his music at every venue. On July 30, 2013 Reedy won the Hastings Music Award for best Hip Hop Artist and performed at the event. He was also featured in the Hailsham Festival Gotta Boom line up in September 2013 and found himself in the final of the festival’s music competition. Currently Reedy is writing and recording his long awaited second LP, “Other Side of Sanity,” which is set to be released in the late summer.
