Who The Problem Child Really Is

Rude Boy Magazine

29 year old Chris Monroe, aka Problem Child, Born May 1985 in Boston, has been rapping on and off since 2003. Born the oldest of 8, Monroe only had his Grandmother around to look up to, and he watched as she struggled to keep the family together. His journey has seen it all, incarceration, financial problems, homelessness, but he uses these experiences to tell and teach the world using his story.

Now himself the father of four, he works a 9 to 5 job at Valvoline to make ends meet, single handedly raises them as well as providing for his mother, and his sister and her children who all live in his two bedroom apartment along with him. After his wife had passed, his grandmother did as well, and her being his world he didn’t know how he would continue. Knowing that his Grandmother would want him to live positively and that he had people relying on him, Monroe turned to his love of music to release himself. He had wanted to be a rapper since he heard LL Cool J’s “I’m Bad”, and knew this is where his heart lied. Problem Child has since released 3 mixtapes which you can find on Datpiff. The first came in 2008, titled “Problem Child Concrete Gorilla Vol. 1” with “Vol.2: Nightmare on Kendall St” following in 2010 and hosted by DJ Hustle Simmons. His third Mixtape “I Am Problem Child Vol.1 was released in 2012 and he is currently working on Vol.2 which will be released August 2014.

Hard work and determination is what has driven this artist from the beginning. He says “I just wanted to build a name for myself, and show the world who the Problem Child really is.”
