Pamela Anderson wants people to give up their porn. Ironic? The iconic Playmate has posed for Playboy numerous times throughout her career. In fact, she appeared in the mag’s last nude cover. Still, she believes there’s adverse effects from long-term exposure to porn. Anderson penned an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal this week using former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s latest sexting scandal as an example of the “addictive dangers” of porn.

“This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible, and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays,” Anderson said in the essay, a collaboration with rabbi-counselor Shmuley Boteach. “Put another way, we are a guinea-pig generation for an experiment in mass debasement that few of us would have ever consented to, and whose full nefarious impact may not be known for years.”

The essay also cites stats from the American Psychological Association which shows “porn consumption rates” at between 50 and 99 percent for men and 30 to 86 percent for women. According to their stats women prefer “a less explicit variety” of porn and that porn actually improves their sexual relationships. However, the essay claims that men in these studies report “less satisfactory” sex lives with their partners.
