The One and Only Jagg

Rude Boy Magazine

“Everything comes with patience and persistence. I keep chasing this image of myself in the future…but I’m not waiting on anyone to make it happen. I have to do that myself.”

Producer and Hip-Hop artist Jagg was born in Inglewood, California and is currently residing in Victorville, California. His love for music started at a young age when his parents purchased him a drum set. He focused on drumming until the age of 16 when he was introduced to producing and began playing around with sounds and incorporating his skills as a drummer. As he shared his production with friends and family, they began to encourage him to take it a step further and pursue a career in production.

Jagg was met with some challenges as many artists and producers often are when trying to break into the music industry. With no background in entertainment and no guidance he found himself frustrated. He refused to give up his dream and began to devise a plan to break in as a producer. The young producer thought if he could make a record with a big artist that he would get his lucky break. This avenue proved to be very difficult.

With no connections and a limited budget to hire assistance he decided to start writing lyrics to his own production and laying down tracks in a friend’s studio. People began to share his music and he quickly started gaining valuable connections in regards to his lyrics, delivery and production. His unique sounds and flow partly come from his vibrant imagination and influence from producers and artist such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Timbaland, Bangladesh, Pharrell. Jagg finally got his lucky break when DJ LaLa Land shared the unfinished version of his record with all of her DJ friends. One thing led to another and the record landed in the hands of DJ Bhen who was spinning in Miami, Florida at 95.3FM. DJ Bhen was responsible for putting it in the hands of the choreographer of the hit movie Step-Up Revolution while it was still in production.

The choreographer instantly fell in love with the record when he heard it and Jagg ended up landing a placement in the popular dance movie released July, 27, 2012. This opportunity has opened a lot of doors for the young artist and producer who had been busy putting together his next project titled “Broken Dreams, Rich Reality”. Jagg remains humble even though the placement has generated a lot of interest from industry stakeholders in him as an artist, songwriter and producer. The single has been released through iTunes meeting the demand of his new fans that were eager to get the single featured in the final dance scene of the movie. He has a big vision for the future and doesn’t have any plans on slowing down. When asked what his ideas are in regards to his “Broken Dreams, Rich Reality” project he replied, “My vision for this project is to make timeless music, music that never gets old.” When asked about his recent success with the movie placement and offers he said, “Everything comes with patience and persistence. I keep chasing this image of myself in the future and that image keeps me focused. This is just the beginning I’m excited to see what the future holds for me, but I’m not waiting on anyone to make it happen. I have to do that myself.”
