Kick5000, The Goonz

Born in 1983 in Bronx, New York, Jamaal Jackson, Kick5000, migrated down to Miami, Florida with his family where he didn’t really have any interest in music at all until the age of 12. R&B piqued his interested because his sisters were so involved with the hit group Immature. He auditioned in singing talent shows at Studio 183rd and was in talent shows throughout elementary school. There was an absence in music up until he turned 17 when he used to make fun of a family friend being in a rap group. He used to recite his friend’s rhymes every time someone would ask him to rap making fun of their verses until one day they asked him to rap.

Kick5000 began to write freestyles in his composition book influenced by the early styles of Canibus, Jadakiss, Nas, Biggie, and Jay Z; all who were not just artists but also wordsmiths. He heavily concentrated on his punch lines more than anything else. He is known within his group for catchy metaphors.

The group is known as The Goonz, a local rap/hip-hop group out of Carol City, Florida. Originally four members, now two, who are focusing and believing that they have what it takes to make it in the industry. The rap alias he goes by is “Kick” which is a child hood nick name given to him by the older Gs on the block.
