John Jigg$, Making A Name

Born in Poughkeepsie, NY and raised in Riverhead, NY in the Flanders section of the Southside, rapper John Jigg$ fell in love with hip-hop at the tender age of five. Just like the stories rappers told in their rhymes, Jigg$ had his own story to tell. Growing up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood, he found himself surrounded by domestic violence in his home. In a situation like that, Jigg$ found it easy to tell his story on paper. His older brother, Michael, was another influencer on his writings.

As a member of The 495 Boyz, John Jigg$ recorded his first song and released various mixtapes that spawned regional hits such as “Slamdance,” “Everyday,” “U and I,” and their summer smash “Red Lobster.” Even though Jigg$ is still apart of The 495 Boyz, he decided to make a name for himself as a solo rapper.

Within the past two years, Jigg$ already has some titles under his belt. He was the winner of “Best Mixtape of the Year,” voted by the people via internet polls, first place winner in the Lady V’s 4th Friday Showcase (voted by a panel of prestigious industry judges), and winner of various radio station competitions where people called into vote.

Currently, John Jigg$ has released his sophomore project “D.R.U.G.$ 2” and his prepping for a 2 EP set to release by the middle of 2015 and end of the year.
