Jay Valentin, Raw Diamond

Jay Valentin is Brooklyn’s own Raw Diamond. He credits his experiences to growing up in Brooklyn with making him stronger, tougher, & wiser than many of his counterparts. “I Love BK, this is what made me the strong man I am today.”

He spent most of his childhood learning the ways of the world from the borough’s mean streets. Seeing his parents struggle at an early age, he quickly discovered what hard times were like.

Jay Valentin has collaborated with Grammy winning billboard producer & artist “Sam Trocki” on a song entitled “Something About You” and has been co-signed by the “Godfather of Hip-Hop” Afrika Bambaataa after his work on “Rock That Body” & “Breathe” with legendary producer & musician “Steven “Boogie” Brown.”

Jay Valentin influence comes from listening to Run DMC, Biggie, Tupac, Big Pun, Nas, Eminem, and Jay-Z. Early on he discovered art as an outlet to express his thoughts and emotions. Jay Valentin picked up a pen at the early age of thirteen and began writing down all his thoughts on paper as what he calls “poetry converted to rap.” At the time it was simply a therapeutic hobby, however this soon became his primary outlet for self-expression. “I have no regrets! I learned from my past but I don’t live in it.” When asked why he said “past” and not mistakes Jay smirks and replies, “I don’t think of anything I’ve done as a mistake. To me a mistake is something you regret doing. My actions have made me the man I am today and I’m stronger because of them. Actions are only mistakes if you don’t learn from them.”

Jay Valentin tells a real life tale of what every kid that grew up in hardship goes through. He’s lived a life of adversity and has finally achieved success. “From the Bottom Up” is the motto he uses to define his life and beliefs. We all have our own struggles and obstacles to overcome and Jay Valentin is right there with us. “Hip-Hop’s a part of me; it runs through me like blood through the arteries.” Support what’s real!
