Prepping his debut on the Hip Hop scene, rapper J. Gillie has released his newest single “No Cosignz” to introduce his brand to a wider audience, spark interest, and promote a return to realness in Hip Hop. “No Cosignz” is a dark soundscape filled with wavy synths, sharp hi-hats, and booming bass that create an intense canvas for the rapper to spit rapid-fire rhymes with an explosive delivery and a go-and-get-it attitude to match. All of this powered by Gillie’s desire to further his craft and build his untouchable empire CoolGang. In addition, the single encourages people in the community to go and create their own legacies and career paths without waiting for the approval of some higher authority.

In addition to releasing “No Cosignz,” Gillie released his latest project “Elmhurst Since Birth” on July 15th. Along with “Elmhusrt” he’s also released the mixtape “5101.” Each project has helped establish his brand and further his sound, a mix of 90’s Hip Hop and millennial stories all tied together by Gillie’s sharp-powerful voice and distinctive energy. His previous work has brought the rapper a strong SoundCloud following; many shows across Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware; and features as an opening act for artists like Kid Ink and Chris Webby.

Born in Kansas and spending his adolescence in Delaware, Gillie bounced around as a child in the hopes of escaping his mother’s heavy drug habit and unstable environment. In an effort to change is predetermined destiny, the artist graduated with honors from his high school, later earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at King’s College in PA. An avid reader, Gillie was inspired by artists like Jay-Z, Nas, 2Pac, and The Roots for their ability to promote meaningful messages in their music while still establishing a legacy. The rapper is currently in Southern Florida promoting the release of his new project as well as setting up performances for the near future.
