Hippy T, Breaking The West Coast Mold

Hippy T and is just a young trippy dude making that new old school jazz that he calls trip-hip (trippy hip hop). Many listeners are going to think his music is just about drugs, but it’s really about self-expression. Once a listener gets past the fact that Hippy T indulges in drugs, they will see that his music makes them think and feel whether it be positive or negative. There’s emotion behind it.

Hippy T is originally from Los Angeles and spent most of his life in Inland Empire. He’s likes to say that he blends the fast pace of a city life with the laid back life of the suburbs. His music references actual events that he’s experienced, from house parties to selling drugs to shoot outs. He can easily attest that he’s lived a life most only read about or see in movies.

Hippy T’s rock influences are Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Bob Marley, The Doors, and Eric Clapton. He also has traditional rap/hip hop influences like 2pac, Biggie, Rakim, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Wu-Tang, and NWA. Many may not characterize him as a west coast rapper, but he’s breaking the mold and changing the idea that Cali is about gangbanging and Hollywood.
