Desiree McKinney Reaching Higher and Higher

Rude Boy Magazine

Desiree McKinney began her love for the camera early, starting modeling at age 6 and since has actively pursued opportunities to work on both sides of the camera lens. She got involved with a girl group and choir to polish her talents. Her early years focused on exploring many avenues of television and film production while working diligently in other creative forms of expression in singing, and writing. She grew up around music and her father used to make up little rhymes to get her to behave. The first time she realized she needed to become a rapper herself was walking in to the first day of high school and watching the upperclassmen freestyle in the courtyards. She missed many classes by staying outside watching them go at it, and soon began writing her ideas down. Succeeding in acting as Cheaunte on NBC’s Friday Night Lights, featuring and co-starring in music videos and movies like A Gangland Love Story, Chingo Bling, and horror film Zombex as a trained killer alongside actors Lew Temple and Sid Haig, as well as her music career with singles like “Taken” recorded with 106 and park battle finalist Amy Miller, and “Dirty Desiree” which is played in European nightclubs. Currently, she is working closely with Christopher “Le” Holloway on a new EP “A Square’s Daughter”. These experiences have resulted in a well rounded persona that extends beyond the limits of any media.
